The Iron Lady

Thirty years ago today, 4th May 1979, Great Britain elected it’s first female Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher. The Soviets had earlier dubbed her the “Iron Lady” to her stiff opposition to their horrid dictatorship and their occupation of Eastern Europe. I always had great affection for Lady Thatcher, even if I didn’t always agree with her politics. (I have a fondness for strong women!)

I found ••this article•• about the tumultuous eleven years of her premiership, which may be of interest.
